WHO WE ARE
Based in Canada, Global Mentors is a youth-led organization that works with youth around the world to help create a global network of peer mentorship to connect, mentor, and empower students to grow and become leaders in their communities. We give youth around the world the opportunity to lead and learn in our mentorship program, which focuses on teaching students important life skills that they may not have the opportunity to learn in school.
WHAT WE DO
We match Canadian youth with youth in developing countries for one-on-one mentoring. Through peer mentorship, mentees can learn the skills to set goals for themselves, build strong habits, manage their time, live a healthy lifestyle, and more. We believe in collective learning and growth, and also provide the mentors an opportunity to learn important skills such as leadership, fostering relationships, communication, and becoming good global citizens. We also aim to create a global network of peer mentorship, where mentors and mentees can access a community of like-minded individuals, valuable resources, and personalized support.
WHY WE STARTED
In most Canadian schools, students are taught important skills such as leadership, self-esteem and confidence, respect and acceptance of others, goal-setting, time management, living a healthy lifestyle, and much more. While many are fortunate enough to learn these skills, not everyone in the world is. Through the Global Mentors Program, we work to provide youth in developing countries the opportunity to learn these life skills. We hope to foster growth and empowerment in youth around the world, and provide them with the skills to become leaders in their communities. In addition, mentors are able to gain a more global perspective as they share their knowledge and create meaningful impact around the world.
